Merck Family's Old World Christmas
As graceful decorations that grow naturally on majestic firs and pine trees, cones were among the first molded glass ornaments to be made. Cones also were believed to be symbols of motherhood and fertility, so they were given to brides to hang on their Christmas trees. These traditional and beautiful glass pinecone ornaments were carefully mouth-blown into a finely crafted mold. Then a hot solution of liquid silver was poured inside. Finally, they were delicately hand-painted and glittered for you to enjoy and cherish as holiday heirlooms!
